SAP Fiori is a design language and user experience (UX) method used to develop SAP applications.
SAP Fiori can be used by the following SAP applications:
SAP Fiori designs can be adapted using almost any technology. However, SAP also provides a compatible UI library for mobile platforms using the SAP Cloud Platform SDK called UI5, which is based on JavaScript.
There are basically 3 different application types in SAP Fiori.
SAP Fiori transactional apps are used to perform tasks such as leave requests and travel requests between managers and employees. Such applications work best from the SAP HANA database, but it is also possible to use with any database with different performance. These applications allow the execution of simple SAP transactions on mobile devices as well as computers.
SAP Fiori Analytics applications run on the SAP HANA database and use virtual data models. Analytics applications are used to provide role-based, real-time information about business operations. This type of application integrates the power of SAP HANA with the SAP business suite. Key performance indicators KPIs can be displayed using analytical applications.
It allows to examine more details in SAP Fiori tiles. Fiori Launchpad helps to perform searches for status pages in search results, other fact sheets, or through transactional or analytical applications. Information pages only work in the SAP HANA database and require an ABAP stack; It is not possible for them to be migrated to the SAP HANA live layer 2 architecture. It aims to display all the information about a particular business object in one place.
SAP Fiori Launchpad can be described as a container that stores SAP Fiori applications on mobile and desktop devices and offers possibilities such as navigation, configuration and customization. Fiori Launchpad has tiles that allow the user to access different business applications. Access to these tiles is determined by the user role. A single point of access is provided for various business applications such as transaction, analytics, information page.
Home Page
The Launchpad home page contains several tiles for launching applications. Users can personalize their homepage by adding, deleting, or grouping app tiles.
We can list the main advantages of using SAP Fiori Launchpad as follows:
Testing is essential when implementing new business processes and practices. Attention should be paid to the organization's strategy, infrastructure or user needs, and whether it meets the requirements should be considered. Safety is also an important consideration during testing. Multiple platforms should be used when performing the tests. For example; ABAP, Fiori Launchpad and Local Sandbox.
Launchpad enhances the user's ability to easily access all Fiori applications from a simple user interface, giving users the opportunity to customize them as they wish. Since the visibility of the applications is role-based, it avoids confusion and provides quick access to all the applications needed.
During the testing phase, it is important to ensure that the user interface works in all major browsers (including Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer). Multiple issues can occur in different browsers and administrators should be aware of them. Addressing unexpected behavior, performance issues, and other issues in popular browsers allows end users to migrate seamlessly to SAP Fiori.
For the most effective implementation of SAP Fiori, the back-end application needs to be updated regularly—even if the Fiori core functionality is up to date. Not updating Fiori slows down your system and creates security vulnerabilities. Security is the top priority when implementing SAP Fiori.
